About The Role
As our Optimisation & Performance Analyst, you will be central to ensuring the operational excellence of our 2-person Customer Delivery Network. You will be responsible for developing and refining cost-to-serve models and leading rigorous root-cause analysis initiatives to understand and resolve delivery failures. The insights you generate will be crucial in driving measurable improvements in key performance indicators (KPIs) such as 2-Person CSAT (Customer Satisfaction) and 2-Person OTIF (On Time, In Full), all while maintaining an optimal balance between service quality and cost efficiency. You will provide clear, actionable insights directly to stakeholders across John Lewis, empowering strategic decision-making and ultimately transforming our delivery capabilities. This role requires advanced skills in data analysis and visualisation, coupled with strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Collaboration with our wider finance stakeholders will be essential to ensure alignment and maximise impact. Furthermore, you will actively support the Continuous Improvement Development Manager on various initiatives across John Lewis, enabling sustained enhancements to 2 Person KPIs.

Hours of work: Full Time, 35 hours working Monday to Friday
Location: This is a hybrid role with an expectation of 1 day a week in either our Magna Park or London Central Office
Key Responsibilities
• Define, source, organise, and manage diverse data sets, ensuring their integrity and continuous maintenance to provide a reliable foundation for analysis.
• Produce accurate data and insightful analysis to drive improvements in 2-person Customer Delivery Network KPIs.
• Develop and maintain automated reports and dashboards.
• Support the build and refinement of cost-to-serve and root cause analysis models to identify improvement areas within Customer Delivery Failures, collaborating with stakeholders for validation.
• Actively engage with John Lewis Distribution stakeholders to understand historical performance and identify future opportunities for the 2-person Customer Delivery Network.
• Build robust daily, weekly, and period review processes, and rigorously interrogate productivity data to determine further opportunities.
• Collaborate closely with the Development & Optimisation team to understand processes, support analysis requests, and provide future forecasting views for projects and training.
• Lead detailed scenario analysis, interpreting leadership questions, building assumptions, and presenting critical insights.
• Work with Commercial Finance teams to understand the broader impact of failures.
• Leverage internal and external networks for insights into customer requirements, market conditions, and technological trends.
• Work collaboratively with Partners across John Lewis to achieve shared vision and objectives.
• Play an active role as a co-owner, fostering a continuous improvement culture and striving for right-first-time execution.
Essential Skills/experience You'll Need
• Broad understanding of Supply Chain & Distribution operations.
• Strong data analysis & problem-solving skills.
• Advanced spreadsheet & data manipulation skills (SQL, Snowflake).
• A self-starter with a proven track record of managing your own time and working effectively.
• Proficient in data visualisation (Tableau).
• Previous experience in the build of a cost-to-serve or root cause analysis.
Desirable Skills/experience You May Have
• Skilled in other programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
• Reporting automation.
• Excellent communication skills & attention to detail.
