Role description
β’ Title: Oracle Consultant (Contractor)
β’ Location: Remote
β’ Duration: 12 months
β’ Context: Large-scale Oracle HCM Time & Labor implementation for 30,000 employees. Role is urgent and critical.
Core Responsibilities
β’ Development, testing, and migration of Oracle HCM Time & Labor and Payroll elements.
β’ Element expertise β ability to create, configure, and validate earnings & deduction codes (Oracle calls these βelementsβ).
β’ Perform documentation of each step, including test scripts, scenarios, UAT, and validation of calculations.
β’ Reviewing and validating HCM Data Loader (HDL) files (Excel tool to upload elements such as earnings/deductions).
β’ Remediating and retesting defects.
β’ Guide consultants (e.g., Arclight) to ensure elements are set up properly and advise on scenarios.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Payroll, IT, HRIT, consultants).
β’ Act as both functional business analyst (understanding processes) and hands-on configurator (setting up elements).
β’ Support project phases including migration, UAT, and preparation for go-live.
Required Skills & Experience
β’ Must have recent Oracle HCM Cloud experience (Time & Labor + Payroll).
β’ Not acceptable: PeopleSoft, Workday, or outdated Oracle experience (e.g., βsix patches agoβ).
β’ Recency requirement: Experience with latest Oracle quarterly patches (25A/25B/25C) from this year.
Technical depth:
β’ Strong functional/configuration knowledge (not pure coding/API).
β’ Must understand backend payroll and time & labor engines.
β’ Able to configure timecards, elements, and payroll flows.
β’ Testing knowledge: UAT, defect remediation, validation of element calculations.
Tools:
β’ HCM Data Loader (HDL) β essential.
β’ Excel β advanced skills.
β’ Smartsheet/SharePoint β helpful but not core.
Soft skills:
β’ Strong communication (able to explain technical concepts clearly).
β’ Relationship building across teams.
β’ Problem-solving mindset, adaptability, independence, cultural flexibility.
β’ Nice to have: CPP certification, large-scale implementation experience.
First 30β90 Days Expectations
First 30 days:
β’ Review existing Oracle time & labor elements.
β’ Validate correct setup and create new elements as needed.
By 90 days:
β’ Fully engaged in testing, defect remediation, and migration.
β’ Able to work independently while collaborating across Payroll, IT, HRIT, and consultants.
Interview Process
1. Round 1: Hiring Manager.
1. Round 2: Two leads (Payroll Systems & Time & Labor) β technical/functional deep dive.
β’ This is the most critical round; pass/fail decision likely here.
1. Round 3 (Final): Director (senior stakeholder, highly involved in project).
