Job Description
• 10+years of experience as DBA.
• Install, configure, monitor, and maintain MySQL and MemSQL (SingleStore) database servers in on-premises and cloud environments.
• Perform routine MySQL server patching, version upgrades, and security hardening.
• Conduct MemSQL/SingleStore version upgrades, including planning, testing, and rollback procedures.
• Manage user access, roles, permissions, and security policies across all database platforms.
• Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement query and index optimizations.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery through replication, failover, and backup/restore strategies.
• Administer and manage GCP Cloud SQL instances (MySQL and PostgreSQL), including provisioning, scaling, maintenance windows, and failover configurations.
• Manage Cloud Spanner instances including schema design, performance tuning, and monitoring.
• Administer BigQuery datasets, tables, access controls, partitioning strategies, and cost optimization.
• Implement and manage Cloud SQL read replicas, automated backups, and point-in-time recovery.
• Configure and manage IAM roles and VPC networking for secure database access in GCP.
• Plan, design, and execute database migrations from on-premises to GCP, including MySQL to Cloud SQL, and legacy systems to BigQuery or Spanner.
• Use tools such as Database Migration Service (DMS), mysqldump, Datastream, or custom ETL pipelines for seamless migrations.
• Perform pre-migration assessments, schema conversions, data validation, and post-migration performance tuning.
• Coordinate with application and DevOps teams to minimize downtime during cutovers.
• Develop and maintain Python scripts for database automation tasks such as health checks, backup verification, alerting, data exports, and report generation.
• Automate repetitive DBA tasks including user provisioning, schema deployments, and performance reporting.
• Set up and manage monitoring using GCP Cloud Monitoring or equivalent tools for all database platforms.
• Respond to and resolve database-related incidents, alerts, and on-call escalations in a timely manner.
• Maintain runbooks and documentation for all operational procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
• Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer or Cloud Database certification
• Experience with Terraform for IaC-based database provisioning
• Exposure to SingleStore (MemSQL) distributed architecture and workload management
