Primary Objective:Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with hands-on experience in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic IT team. This role is ideal for a professional with a strong background in Oracle RDBMS and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), who thrives in both on-premises and cloud-based environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of Oracle database systems, including architecture design, deployment, configuration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security hardening. You will play a key role in ensuring the availability, reliability, scalability, and security of our database platforms, supporting mission-critical applications and services.
Principle Duties
Administer, monitor, and support Oracle databases across development, test, and production environments.
Design and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions using Oracle Data Guard, RMAN, and OCI-native tools.
Migrate on-premises Oracle databases to OCI using tools like Oracle Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM), Data Pump.
Automate routine database tasks using a variety of scripting languages.
Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve issues.
Implement and maintain database security, including user access controls and encryption.
Collaborate with application developers, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to support database-related needs.
Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
Maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and standards. Close-out and Handover: Ensuring that the project is properly closed out and handed over to the relevant stakeholders, including conducting post-project reviews to identify areas for improvement and lessons learned.
Creates Rough Order of Magnitudes (ROM), activity duration estimates, and cost-benefit analyses.
ITS team communication
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of Oracle 12c/19c/21c database architecture and administration.
Experience with OCI services such as Autonomous Database, OCI Compute, Block Storage, and Object Storage.
Proficiency in backup and recovery strategies using RMAN.
Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and monitoring tools.
Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, Perl or similar).
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA.
2+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Required /Must have:
Experience with OCI services such as Autonomous Database, OCI Compute, Block Storage, and Object Storage.
Proficiency in backup and recovery strategies using RMAN.
Experience with performance tuning and query optimization.
