Role Overview
The Oracle WACS Work Management Business Analyst supports functional design, configuration, build, and data conversion activities for Oracle Work and Asset Cloud Service (WACS) Work Management capabilities within a utility's transformation program.
This role is hands-on in defining work order lifecycle processes, activity structures, resource requirements, scheduling integration, cost tracking, and legacy-to-WACS data migration, while orchestrating cross-functional coordination within a hybrid agile model.
The analyst supports electric and gas operational work processes including corrective, preventive, construction, and emergency work.
Key Responsibilities
1. Functional Design & Process Modeling
• Support detailed functional design for WACS Work Management including:
• Work order types (Corrective, Preventive, Inspection, Construction)
• Activity structures (Activities vs Tasks in WACS terminology)
• Work order statuses and lifecycle controls
• Work priority and work classification frameworks
• Labor, crew, and resource requirements
• Cost tracking and charge account structures
• Translate workshop outcomes into:
• Functional Design Documents
• Process flow diagrams
• Configuration workbooks
• RICE object documentation
• Validate integration touchpoints with:
• Oracle Field Service (OFS)
• Supply Chain / Inventory
• Finance / Costing
• GIS and external systems
• Define data ownership and governance rules impacting work management data.
1. Data Conversion & Migration Support
• Support end-to-end data conversion activities for Work Management including:
• Work order history (open and closed)
• Preventive maintenance programs
• Work definitions and templates
• Activity templates
• Resource and crew data
• Charge accounts and costing structures
• Backlog and in-flight work
• Participate in:
• Legacy data assessment and gap analysis
• Data mapping workshops (source-to-target mapping)
• Data transformation logic definition
• Data cleansing and enrichment strategy
• Conversion rule documentation
• Develop and validate:
• Source-to-target mapping documents
• Conversion design specifications
• Data validation scripts and reconciliation criteria
• Support multiple mock conversion cycles and production cutover.
• Execute data validation and reconciliation testing to ensure:
• Data integrity
• Financial alignment
• Operational continuity
• Accurate lifecycle status conversion
• Collaborate with technical data migration teams to resolve conversion defects.
1. Configuration & Build Support
• Support configuration of:
• Work order types and templates
• Activity templates
• Status transitions and controls
• Work definitions and preventive maintenance schedules
• Approval workflows
• Execute unit testing and support SIT/UAT cycles
• Assist in defect triage and resolution
• Support cutover planning including:
• Work backlog migration strategy
• Open work order transition approach
• PM program activation sequencing
1. Hybrid Agile Orchestration
• Participate in sprint ceremonies and backlog refinement
• Convert design decisions into actionable user stories
• Coordinate cross-stream dependencies (Asset, Finance, OFS, Construction, etc.)
• Track configuration and data conversion changes across releases
• Support release-level readiness assessments including conversion readiness.
1. Stakeholder Engagement & Operational Alignment
• Facilitate focused sessions with field operations, planners, supervisors, and data governance teams
• Ensure alignment with utility operational best practices
• Support development of training scenarios and job aids
• Assist in validation of end-to-end work execution flows including converted historical and open work
• Support operational sign-off of migrated work data prior to go-live
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Experience with Oracle WACS / Oracle Work Management / Oracle EAM
• Strong experience in ERP data conversion and legacy system migrations
• Utilities work management experience (electric and/or gas)
• Understanding of work order lifecycle, crew management, and cost tracking
• Experience defining source-to-target mapping and transformation logic
• Experience supporting mock conversions, reconciliation, and production cutover
• Experience supporting hybrid agile transformation programs
• Hands-on configuration and testing experience
• Strong analytical and data validation skills
