Responsibilities
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Power BI Developer in Oakland, CA. Key Responsibilities:
β’ Dashboard & Report Development: Design, develop, and deploy interactive Power BI dashboards, paginated reports, and self-service analytics solutions that meet business requirements
β’ Data Modeling: Build efficient, scalable data models in Power BI and Power Query (M) with strong DAX calculations to support advanced reporting scenarios
β’ Data Integration: Connect to multiple data sources (SQL Server, APIs, Excel, third-party platforms, etc.) and transform data into consumable formats
β’ Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize report performance, data refreshes, and query efficiency
β’ Collaboration: Partner with business stakeholders & third-party data providers to gather business & technical requirements, define KPI calculations, and ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions
β’ Governance & Standards: Contribute to BI governance by implementing best practices for data security, access management, version control, and consistent data definitions
β’ Documentation & Training: Create technical documentation, data dictionaries, and provide training for business users on Power BI self-service capabilities
Requirements
β’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field
β’ 4+ years of hands-on experience in Power BI development with proven track record of delivering impactful dashboards and reports
β’ Strong experience with relational databases (SQL, Azure SQL, etc.) and proficiency in writing optimized SQL queries
β’ Expert-level knowledge of Power BI, DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling techniques
β’ Understanding of ETL processes, data warehousing, and semantic modeling
β’ Knowledge of DevOps, version control (Git), and CI/CD for BI deployment (preferred)
β’ Familiarity with APIs and scripting languages (Python, R) for advanced analytics integration
β’ Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
β’ Excellent communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
β’ Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
