Power BI Technical Lead

Role: Power BI Technical Lead Location: Oaks, PA(Hybrid from Day 1 required) Duration: Long-Term Contract Note: Only Technical Lead level candidates will be considered. Please do not submit basic Developer profiles. Position Summary We are seeking a highly experienced Power BI Technical Lead to drive the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise-grade analytics and reporting solutions. The role will own the end-to-end Power BI technical strategy, establish standards and governance, and ensure scalable, secure, and cloud-native BI solutions aligned with modern data platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in semantic modeling, performance optimization, deployment automation, and cloud data warehouse integration, along with strong knowledge of Power BI platform capabilities and roadmap evolution. This role requires hands-on technical leadership and the ability to guide teams toward best-in-class analytics solutions. Key Responsibilities • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise Power BI solutions across reporting and analytics initiatives. • Design scalable and performant semantic models using dimensional modeling best practices such as star schema, optimized relationships, and cardinality management. • Implement advanced visualization techniques to transform complex data into actionable insights. • Support migration or coexistence initiatives involving SAP BusinessObjects (WebI, Universes) and Power BI. • Analyze existing SAP BO reports and semantic layers and convert them into optimized Power BI datasets and dashboards. • Define and enforce Power BI governance, standards, naming conventions, and performance guidelines. • Develop advanced DAX calculations, measures, and calculated tables, and optimize models for large-scale datasets. • Implement advanced Power BI capabilities including: • Aggregations • Incremental Refresh • Row Level Security (RLS) • Composite / Hybrid Models • Dataflows • Design and manage Power BI Deployment Pipelines across Dev, Test, and Production environments aligned with CI/CD and DevOps practices. • Work with Microsoft Fabric components including Lakehouse integration, OneLake organization, Direct Lake, Notebooks, and Real-Time Intelligence. • Architect cloud-native BI solutions integrated with modern Data Warehouse and Lakehouse platforms. • Ensure high-performance data models using Import, DirectQuery, and Hybrid storage modes. • Integrate Power BI with enterprise systems using REST APIs and Embedded Analytics. • Collaborate with Data Engineering and Architecture teams to align warehouse structures and transformation layers with reporting requirements. • Deliver executive-level dashboards and data visualizations. • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Power BI developers. • Stay updated on Power BI and Microsoft Fabric roadmap enhancements and implement relevant capabilities. Required Skills • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. • 8+ years of BI/Analytics experience, with 5+ years of hands-on Power BI development and architecture. • Experience with cloud data platforms such as Azure, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or similar. • Strong expertise in: • Semantic Modeling & Dataset Design • Advanced DAX Development & Performance Tuning • Aggregations & Incremental Refresh • Deployment Pipelines & DevOps • Power BI Service Administration & Governance • Solid understanding of cloud-native architecture principles. • Experience with Enterprise Data Warehouse environments, including dimensional modeling and ETL/ELT concepts. • Experience integrating Power BI using REST APIs and Embedded Analytics. • Strong SQL and query performance optimization skills. • Proven ability to design high-impact analytics and visualization solutions. • Excellent analytical, leadership, and stakeholder communication skills. Preferred Qualifications • Experience designing enterprise-scale reporting and analytics frameworks. • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices. • Microsoft Power BI certifications preferred. • Experience in Financial Services or enterprise reporting environments is a plus.
