Overview
Brooksource is seeking a Senior Microsoft Dataverse and Power Platform Developer to accelerate a mission-critical modernization effort for our federal civilian client. This role will focus on migrating an existing Oracle/.NET application into the Microsoft Power Platform and Dataverse, defining and converting schemas, and enabling robust Power BI reporting capabilities.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Dataverse—both as a schema designer and developer—paired with strong Power BI skills to help transform legacy systems into scalable, secure, and data-driven solutions. This individual must be comfortable jumping into a project already in progress, quickly assessing Oracle database structures, and recommending/implementing strategies to optimize Dataverse and Power Platform adoption.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the Dataverse SME and developer, defining schemas, relationships, and conversion strategies for migrating from Oracle to Dataverse.
• Assess Oracle database schemas and map them into Dataverse for optimal performance and reporting.
• Support the migration of a legacy Oracle/.NET application into the Power Platform ecosystem.
• Design and deliver Power BI reports and dashboards leveraging Dataverse and other integrated data sources.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and project stakeholders to accelerate progress and ensure quality delivery.
• Provide hands-on development of Power Apps, Power Automate flows, and Power BI while ensuring compliance with federal IT security and governance standards.
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and document data models and reporting structures.
• Act as a mentor and technical lead to team members who are newer to Dataverse/Power Platform.
Required Qualifications
• U.S. Citizenship (required for federal clearance eligibility).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including:
• 5+ years with Power Platform and Dataverse (schema design, migration, performance tuning).
• Strong experience with Power BI (data modeling, DAX, relationships, dashboard design).
• Proven ability to assess Oracle schemas and design effective Dataverse models.
• Hands-on experience with:
• Power Apps (Canvas & Model-Driven)
• Power Automate (Cloud Flows; RPA a plus)
• Microsoft 365, Azure, REST APIs
• SQL, JSON, JavaScript, PowerFx
• Experience supporting federal government IT projects with strict governance/security requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
• Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400) or higher.
• Experience migrating .NET/Oracle applications into Power Platform.
• Knowledge of federal IT governance, compliance, and reporting requirements.
• Background in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to quickly integrate into active teams.
