PSA Engineer – Network/Transmission Location: Anywhere in the USA Duration: 6–10 months (Contract) Department: AEMS Platform Services Delivery About the Role The PSA Engineer – Network/Transmission is responsible for supporting and enhancing advanced Power Systems Applications (PSA) within large-scale Energy Management Systems (EMS) and SCADA environments. This position requires a strong technical background in power system operations, real-time data management, and network applications, particularly with GE Reliance – GE XA/21 systems. The engineer will work closely with transmission operations, network modeling, and platform delivery teams to ensure the reliability, stability, and performance of mission-critical systems used in energy transmission and control. Essential Responsibilities Configure, enhance, and maintain Power System Applications (PSA) including State Estimation, Power Flow, Contingency Analysis, and related transmission functions. Perform model maintenance, data validation, and integration within EMS/SCADA environments. Lead or participate in the design and deployment of network model updates, ensuring accuracy and synchronization across platforms. Support application troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis for PSA/EMS systems. Interface with system operators, IT teams, and control center staff to coordinate planned upgrades and changes. Conduct end-to-end testing, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). Provide documentation and technical support for system configuration, data management, and change control processes. Utilize experience with GE Reliance – GE XA/21 environments to optimize system reliability, integration, and performance. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Power Systems, or related technical field. 5+ years of experience in Power Systems Applications (PSA), Energy Management Systems (EMS), or SCADA integration. Proven experience with GE Reliance / GE XA/21 environments is required. Strong understanding of power system operations, network modeling, and real-time data processing. Working knowledge of PSA functions such as load flow, contingency analysis, and topology processing. Experience in Unix/Linux environments and familiarity with programming or scripting languages (C, Python, SQL, Shell). Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills for high-availability control systems. Effective communicator able to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting or integrating PSA applications in a GE XA/21, OSI Monarch, or Siemens Spectrum Power EMS environment. Familiarity with network modeling tools (e.g., PSSE, PSLF) and data exchange standards (CIM/XML). Exposure to real-time databases and communication protocols (ICCP, DNP3, Modbus). Understanding of cybersecurity and NERC CIP compliance within operational technology (OT) environments. Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-availability operational environments supporting electric utility control systems.
