Job Purpose: The Principal Data Analyst will act as a senior expert in Medicaid data and systems, providing leadership in designing and improving large data warehouse capabilities. This role focuses on evaluating claims, eligibility, and provider data to support accurate processing and compliance with State and Federal standards. The selected candidate will drive analytical strategies, guide both business and technical decisions, and ensure data-driven enhancements that improve operational outcomes. Requirements: Key Responsibilities Lead analytical initiatives supporting a large-scale Medicaid data warehouse implementation and ongoing operations. Provide strategic recommendations on claims adjudication, eligibility rules, third-party liability, and other Medicaid program processes. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define data requirements and validate solutions with supporting evidence and analysis. Direct cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate and effective utilization of Medicaid healthcare data. Identify opportunities for system and process improvement based on Medicaid best practices and regulatory standards. Analyze large datasets using SQL and Excel to support decision-making and validate outcomes. Support reporting needs, including CMS mandates and performance metrics aligned with Medicaid and CHIP programs. Communicate findings to leadership, technical teams, and State agency partners with clear documentation and presentations. Required Skills & Experience 10+ years of IT experience, including at least 5 years working directly with a State Medicaid agency or equivalent healthcare program. In-depth understanding of Medicaid claims, enrollment/eligibility workflows, and provider data management. Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience working with enterprise data warehouses and large datasets using SQL and Excel. Knowledge of CMS federal reporting requirements and Medicaid/CHIP programs. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership capabilities. Ability to mentor team members and contribute to collaborative delivery. Willingness to travel occasionally (approximately 2–4 trips per year). Preferred Skills & Experience 2+ years supporting PERM, T-MSIS, HEDIS, CHIPRA, or similar federal reporting and quality measurement initiatives.
