We’re looking for a senior-level Java Developer to support a fast-moving, high-visibility AI/ML initiative. You’ll work within a collaborative engineering environment supporting the transition from legacy systems to a more modern, ML-driven platform. This role is best suited for developers who are confident coding in Java, familiar with large-scale systems, and comfortable working in hybrid cloud/data environments. Responsibilities • Design, develop, and support Java-based web applications using Spring Framework and RESTful APIs • Write clean, maintainable code and unit tests in a CI/CD environment (Jenkins, GitHub, Gradle) • Debug, test, and enhance high-performance backend services • Collaborate with machine learning and data engineering teams to align back-end functionality with evolving platform needs • Create technical documentation and ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards Required Skills • 8+ years of hands-on experience with Java (1.7/1.8) and Spring Framework • Strong knowledge of RESTful web services, SQL (DB2 & others), and Unix scripting • Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, Gradle, JSON, and RabbitMQ • Proven ability to work in a large-scale, enterprise environment Nice to Have • Exposure to Hadoop, Kotlin • Experience or interest in machine learning environments (Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow) • Background working in complex distributed systems or backend infrastructure Worksite Requirement • Must be able to work onsite 4 days/week in either Washington, DC or Philadelphia, PA • Local or commutable candidates strongly preferred Please Note • No job hoppers – we’re looking for stable, long-term contributors • All required skills must be clearly demonstrated on the resume • This is a hands-on development role – not just design/architecture
