Job Title: Engineering Process Improvement Specialist
Location: Fremont, CA
Schedule: RGDA – Regular, Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week
Contract: $45/hr. to $51/hr.
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Process Improvement Specialist to support continuous improvement across our product development lifecycle. This role requires a detail-oriented and collaborative professional with a strong understanding of engineering processes, CAD and PLM systems, and cross-functional coordination. The successful candidate will play a critical role in enhancing productivity, documentation consistency, and automation within engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering development and release processes.
• Evaluate current practices and tools; identify areas for process enhancement and automation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align process requirements and ensure successful implementation.
• Create and maintain clear and comprehensive process documentation and training materials.
• Deliver engaging training sessions to engineering teams on tools, standards, and best practices.
• Present plans and progress updates to senior leadership, securing buy-in and support.
• Lead and manage cross-functional teams (CFTs) to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
• Support Model-Based Definition (MBD), including on-model annotations and creation of Technical Data Packages (TDPs).
• Analyze data to drive decisions and develop process improvements; utilize visualization tools to communicate insights.
• Work with CAD and PLM platforms to enhance system efficiencies and standardization.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 2 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Hands-on experience with Model-Based Definition (MBD) in engineering design and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes and tools.
• Experience with ERP systems and process alignment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with VBA, SQL, JMP, Qlik, Access, QuickBase, SAP, Matlab is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority.
Preferred Experience
• Background in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with NX (version 10 or newer), including 5+ years of modeling experience.
• Knowledge of product configuration, manufacturing engineering, field service, logistics/spares.
• Familiarity with engineering practices such as weldments, sheet metal, and machined components.
