Role description
Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of this role is to assist the Data Product Manager in delivering and managing high quality, user-centric data products that meet the needs of Network Design teams and other parts of NGET. These products will improve access to trusted, timely, and actionable dataβ enabling better decision-making, enhanced project performance, and alignment with National GridΚΌs strategic objectives. You will work across multidisciplinary teams to support the full product lifecycle, from discovery through to delivery and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Support the Data Product Manager in managing the lifecycle of data products, including discovery, definition, delivery, and iteration.
β’ Collaborate with stakeholders across National Grid, Data, and Engineering teams to gather requirements and understand user needs.
β’ Assist in writing user stories, maintaining product backlogs, and prioritising features based on business value and user impact.
β’ Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
β’ Conduct user research and data analysis to inform product decisions and measure outcomes.
β’ Help coordinate testing, feedback loops, and continuous improvement activities.
β’ Contribute to product documentation, training materials, and stakeholder communications. Promote data-driven decision-making and support the adoption of data products across the business.
β’ Identify what data is required to support better operational and planning decisions.
β’ Work with data analysts and engineering SMEs to validate data quality, source systems, assumptions, and business rules.
β’ Have a very good understanding of the data attributes and data products catalogue to support various team
Required Qualifications and Experience
β’ Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Junior Data Product Manager, or related discipline).
β’ Demonstrable experience (e.g., early career role, internship, or placement) in a data, product, or business analysis environment.
β’ Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira, Confluence,
β’ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
β’ Analytical mindset with a strong interest in data, systems, and user-centric design
Desired Skills and Attributes:
β’ Understanding of data governance, data lineage, master data, integration and API-based products.
β’ Strong understanding of Product ownership and Business Analysis.
β’ Passion for data and its role in driving transformational value.
β’ Curiosity and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
β’ A good understanding of product management principles and data lifecycle concepts.
β’ Analytical mindset with attention to detail and logical thinking.

β’ Experience working with cross-functional teams including customers, architects, engineers, developers, and testers.
β’ Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI) or data analysis techniques is a plus.
β’ Experience working on data-heavy products, engineering platforms, digital twins, analytics products, or operational decision-support tools is highly beneficial.
β’ Understanding of data governance, data quality, or metadata management is advantageous.
β’ Experience in Energy, Electricity Transmission, Asset & Operational Data industries is advantageous
