Key responsibilities:
β’ Support sourcing and externalization of services and research for the Drug Product Development organization in all of its modalities, including small molecule and biologic drug products, combination products and devices, materials science, drug delivery, engineering technologies, and strategic innovation.
β’ Facilitate and negotiate contracts, including Confidential Disclosure Agreements, Single Project Services Agreements, Research Agreements, Statements of Work, etc.
β’ Work closely with Drug Product Development scientists and leadership, internal and external legal teams, Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, External Partner Management, and suppliers/institutions to drive the contracting process with urgency and agility.
β’ Understand the technical requirements for the services to be externalized, including the related asset or functional strategy, and ensure that the contractual terms are suitable and comprehensive to cover those requirements.
β’ Lead multi-functional strategy discussion boards to make risk-based decisions on contractual terms that impact intellectual property, confidentiality, liability, etc.
β’ Manage purchase orders, invoices, and budget allocation and monitoring.
β’ Manage and monitor contracting and purchasing process metrics utilizing data analysis and visualization tools and platforms.
Qualifications and Experience
β’ Required BS or higher degree in a Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a relevant scientific discipline, with 1-3 years of experience in contract negotiation and facilitation; or non-scientific degree(s) with 1-3 years of experience in contract facilitation and negotiation in pharmaceutical development or pharmaceutical commercial manufacturing.
β’ Background in the pharmaceutical industry with experience in development or commercial manufacturing is highly preferred.
β’ Ability to lead matrix teams, think strategically and with a continuous improvement mindset, manage stakeholders and timelines efficiently.
β’ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
β’ Strong interpersonal, project management, and analytical skills with the ability to work in a fast paced, multidisciplinary environment and implement strategic plans.
β’ Experience in working with purchasing and contracting systems such as Icertis, Ariba, SAP is highly preferred.
β’ Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of MS Office program suite, with an emphasis in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
β’ Experience in data analysis and outcome representation with use of data visualization tools such as Tableau is highly preferred.
