Role description
Description of Services: The Software QA Engineer performs advanced and/or supervisory computer systems analysis and team lead work, administering the daily operations and activities of testing teams within the Quality Assurance (QA) section of IT-SEDS (Information Technology – Statewide Education Data System). Work involves planning, budgeting, and analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems. This position will work with the Multi-Apps development team to provide the following Software Testing Services: Analyze user requirements, design documents and other documentation to develop detailed test cases. Create and execute automated functional and regression test cases against HTML, PDF, and Excel Reports, report and document all issues, test cases ran, test results, and testing summaries in detail. Perform SQL queries to analyze and manipulate data. Work with development team and customers to clearly understand the functionality under test to define and implement test case automation and clearly communicate to the team. Execute performance and accessibility testing. Perform manual testing and data validation. The QA group supports and facilitates the implementation of all apps/projects in the Texas Education Agency. EXPERIENCE- Required Qualifications & Skills: 8 Years: Testing complex Web Applications. 8 Years: Testing all phases of Software Development Life Cycle. 5 Years: Advanced Database/SQL Language. 3 Years: API, JSON, XML 2 Years: Experience with WAPT Pro, Jmeter, or other performance testing tools. 5 Years: Experience testing reports. 3 Years: Experience in API testing (SOAP and REST). 2 Years: Previous experience with Zephyr Scale preferred. 2 Years: Previous experience with JIRA preferred. Contract Details: The primary work location(s) will be at 100% Remote, Work Location With-in the United States. The working position is Remote. The primary work location will be in the William B. Travis State Building, 1701 North Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78701. Services shall be provided during normal business hours unless otherwise coordinated through the Texas Education Agency. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding State holidays when the agency is closed. Services are expected to start 09/15/2025 and are expected to complete by 08/31/2026. Total estimated hours per Candidate shall not exceed 1900 hours. This service may be amended, renewed, and/or extended providing both parties agree to do so in writing.
