About the Role
NYSERDA’s Clean and Resilient Buildings (CRB) team is seeking a Data Analyst to support the organization’s mission of advancing clean energy adoption and improving building performance across New York State. This role focuses on strengthening data collection, standardization, and analysis systems that drive strategic insights for energy efficiency and market development programs.
The ideal candidate is a data-driven problem solver with experience in building energy systems, data analytics, and visualization tools such as Tableau. You’ll play a key role in developing datasets, dashboards, and analytical models that improve decision-making and program performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze and report on data related to building energy efficiency and clean energy programs.
• Ensure data quality, completeness, and consistency across NYSERDA systems.
• Design and maintain interactive dashboards and analytical tools (primarily Tableau) to support program management and oversight.
• Identify opportunities to improve data collection, integration, and storage (including Salesforce and legacy data migration).
• Collaborate across departments on shared data initiatives and market analyses.
• Conduct market research and monitor trends in building energy performance and clean energy technologies.
• Support continuous improvement of NYSERDA’s data infrastructure and insights delivery.
Required Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, or a related field.
• Experience analyzing building energy systems or similar sustainability datasets.
• Strong data visualization skills using Tableau (Power BI is a plus).
• Proficiency in SQL or Python for data querying and analysis.
• Understanding of database architecture and data management principles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Building Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Familiarity with Salesforce CRM (required).
Preferred Skills
• Experience integrating datasets into Salesforce and creating Salesforce-based reports.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Self-starter who thrives both independently and collaboratively in team settings.
• Strong written and verbal communication with a focus on actionable insights.
