We have an exciting 6-month secondment opportunity available! You could lead our Train Performance analysis team, as the Route Performance Analysis Manager on Western Route and be at the forefront of performance improvement insight.
Western Route is a mixed mode railway, combining both commuter and long distance GWR services, the high frequency Elizabeth Line and critical freight services.
We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic individual to lead our team of analysts responsible for delivering analysis projects, forecasting and insight. You will harness industry data, using a variety of software (Power BI, excel and Business Objects) and techniques, such as forecasting and data visualisation to extract insight on delay, disruption, and timetable. Collaboration is key, and you will work closely with customers and stakeholders across Network Rail, as well as passenger and freight customers. You use your communication skills to drive effective change in railway infrastructure and train services, as you will be responsible for presenting your findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise way, so that they can make informed decisions based on your analysis.
Based in Swindon, you will spend some time each week at our Western House office. About The Role (External)
Your Main Responsibilities will be to:
• Lead and implement improved understanding of the long-term drivers of performance and the trade-offs between performance and cost
• Lead and manage the development of the long term plans for performance improvement related outputs working in conjunction with the route and its stakeholders.
• Lead, manage and deliver high quality and innovative performance analysis, reports and projects to support performance management within the route.
• Lead all performance improvement planning activity within the route.
• Identify and implement quality and efficiency improvement initiatives.
• Manage the engagement and development of individuals and of the team.
• Manage and comply with company procedures to provide appropriate resources, communication strategies, training and competency to enable the team deliver their accountabilities.
You will ideally have
• Experience of performance planning at national and local levels
• Expert user of databases and spreadsheet information systems
• Trained in forecasting and performance planning principles and techniques
• Ability to analyse complex data
• Structured and analytical thinker with numerate and conceptual analysis capability
• The ability to work with and influence people at all levels of National Delivery Service and the wider business
• Ability to manage and develop a team
• Good communication skills and a customer focussed approach
