DESCRIPTION
The UC San Diego School of Global Policy and Strategy (GPS) is an interdisciplinary, discovery-driven graduate school focusing on international affairs and public policy. We offer an original and rigorous approach to policy, as our goal is to create global policy solutions that matter. Under direct supervision, the Research Data Analyst's key responsibilities include assisting with collecting detailed data related to the economy of India, building upon existing data and case studies, acquiring descriptive statistics by utilizing specialized datasets, assisting with data analysis, assisting with interpreting and conducting in-depth investigations on preliminary analysis results, assisting with examining the relevant literature in the field, and collaborating with 21st Century India Center (21CIC) faculty affiliates as required. The Research Data Analyst will also assist with broader 21CIC program activities and development, including research seminars.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of research function and ability to perform research analysis duties.
Skills to perform research analysis duties such as statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design.
Ability to effectively manage time and see assigned parts of projects through to completion on deadline.
Basic consultation and communication skills.
Basic quantitative and computation skills with the ability to work with text data.
Knowledge of issues related to the economy of India, development economics, and U.S. - India relations.
Ability to work with large datasets and comfortable with statistical software like STATA or R.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $65,800 - $115,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $31.51 - $55.08
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
