Worldwide Technology is looking for a SCCM / PowerShell Automation Engineer. This job is part of WWT s Strategic Resourcing services. The candidate will be supporting a WWT customer and will be employed by one of WWT s preferred partners.
Overview:
WWT is seeking an SCCM / PowerShell Automation Engineer to support our client as they roll out a new automation framework and transition from MDT to SCCM. This is a consulting-focused role where you'll assess the current environment, modernize scripts, build automated SCCM task sequences, and create runbooks to support ongoing automation across multiple server and workstation platforms.
Job Title: SCCM / PowerShell Automation Engineer
Location: Remote (Must work PST hours)
Duration: 6 months with extension potential
Key Responsibilities:
MDT to SCCM Conversion
• Convert MDT task sequences for Domain Controllers, EASE Jump Servers, PKI, SCOM, and Workstations into automated SCCM Task Sequences.
• Modernize legacy cscript/VBScript into modular, SCCM-ready PowerShell.
• Validate OS customization, driver handling, and role/feature installs.
• Package and validate Gemalto smart card drivers and related components.
Automation & Script Modernization
• Audit MDT and CFG-AD scripts for PowerShell readiness, logging, error handling, and idempotency.
• Update automation for AD validation, PKI setup, SQL/SCOM installs, and role configuration.
• Ensure compatibility with DISM, DSC, and Feature-on-Demand workflows.
SCCM Task Sequence Development
• Build modular SCCM Task Sequences for server and workstation builds.
• Integrate PowerShell modules, prestart commands, and required packages.
• Standardize packaging, version control, and automation workflows.
Testing, Validation & Runbooks
• Test and validate all automation in a lab environment.
• Run full end-to-end builds (DC, PKI, SCOM, SQL, Workstations).
• Validate IPSEC and smart card functionality.
• Create runbooks, deployment documentation, and operational guides.
Required Skills
• 5+ years of SCCM/Configuration Manager experience with advanced Task Sequence and automation work.
• Expert-level PowerShell scripting (modular design, automation frameworks).
• Hands-on MDT to SCCM migration experience.
• Strong understanding of AD, PKI, SCOM, SQL, and Windows Server automation.
• Experience with DISM, DSC, Feature-on-Demand, and driver packaging.
• Familiarity with enterprise security components (PKI, IPSEC, smart cards).
Preferred
• Microsoft Endpoint Administrator or equivalent certification.
• Experience automating PKI/CA, GPO deployment, and SQL installs.
Deliverables
• Modernized PowerShell script set.
• SCCM Task Sequences for all server/workstation roles.
• Packaged and validated drivers and applications.
• Deployment documentation and runbooks
Rate/Salary: A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $60.00 to $70.00 per hourly on C2C. Actual pay will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs, and will be set by your employer. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in base pay.
