With over 20 million patients reached, this organization reinvests revenue into health equity initiatives and is deeply committed to its social mission.
About the Role
As a Senior AI/ML Engineer, you will be instrumental in building scalable machine learning systems that power smart automation and data-driven decision-making across the platform. You'll work on high-priority projects, including the continued development of AI tools such as generative assistants and natural language processing (NLP) pipelines. Your work will directly influence patient engagement, predictive analytics, and care delivery innovations.
This role offers the opportunity to shape a product that has meaningful societal impact while working with a multidisciplinary, agile, and remote-first team.
Key Responsibilities
Model Design & Development
β’ Design and implement generative and predictive AI/ML models, including LLMs and traditional classifiers
β’ Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define requirements and deliver intelligent solutions
β’ Fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy models to solve specific healthcare use cases, such as improving patient response rates or clinical outcomes
Infrastructure, Scaling & Deployment
β’ Build scalable AI/ML pipelines and deploy models in production environments (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable)
β’ Monitor models post-deployment for drift, performance, and optimization opportunities
β’ Implement MLOps best practices for reproducibility, monitoring, and model lifecycle management
Strategy & Business Alignment
β’ Identify opportunities to apply ML to business challenges through close collaboration with cross-functional teams
β’ Translate product needs and healthcare-specific problems into actionable AI/ML projects
Team Collaboration & Technical Leadership

β’ Ensure code quality, data privacy, and compliance (including HIPAA where applicable)
Required Qualifications
β’ 5+ years of experience as an AI/ML Engineer, preferably in healthcare-related domains
β’ Expertise in Python and ML libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, SparkML, etc.
β’ Deep knowledge of supervised/unsupervised learning, NLP, LLMs, and advanced prompting/fine-tuning techniques
β’ Production-level experience deploying AI/ML solutions in cloud environments (GCP preferred)
β’ Experience with MLOps tools and workflows
β’ Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially when working with non-technical stakeholders
β’ Proficient in data preprocessing, model evaluation, and translating business needs into ML solutions
Nice to Have
β’ Experience with distributed systems, APIs, and scalable backend services
β’ Knowledge of healthcare standards such as FHIR, HL7, HIPAA compliance
β’ Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cost optimization in cloud deployments
β’ Background in ETL/data engineering for unstructured data
What to Expect in the First 6 Months
Within 1 Month
β’ Understand the product, patient demographics, and internal AI applications
β’ Build rapport with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Within 3 Months
β’ Evaluate current ML usage and infrastructure
β’ Propose and begin development on a new AI/ML use case
Within 6 Months
β’ Deliver a production-ready model supporting a high-impact business or clinical goal
β’ Collaborate with leadership to shape long-term AI/ML strategy
