About The Role Infinite Ranges is seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to support a short-term, high-impact engagement with a large enterprise customer. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguous environments, can jump in immediately, and owns the full analytics lifecycle — from raw data to trusted, executive-ready insights. This is not a junior analyst role, a pure SQL developer role, or a drag-and-drop BI position. The right person will bring strong data modeling instincts, advanced SQL expertise, and the ability to partner directly with business stakeholders to deliver clear, reliable analytics quickly. This is estimated to be a 3-4 month remote project. What You Will Be Doing • Partner directly with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, KPIs, and key business questions • Explore, validate, and analyze raw data to determine the correct structure for analytics use cases • Design and implement analytics-ready data models, including fact and dimension tables with appropriate grain • Define and standardize business metrics (e.g., revenue, utilization, performance measures) and ensure consistency across reports • Write production-grade, layered SQL using advanced techniques (CTEs, window functions, aggregations, performance tuning) • Build and refine Power BI and/or Databricks SQL dashboards that are clear, consumable, and executive-friendly • Create curated SQL views and semantic layers that can be reused and trusted by downstream users • Document data definitions, assumptions, lineage, and logic to improve transparency and reduce confusion • Iterate quickly based on feedback and reconcile discrepancies across data sources and reports What We Want To See • 8+ years of experience in analytics, BI, or data engineering roles with a strong analytics focus • Deep expertise in advanced SQL (complex joins, CTEs, window functions, performance optimization) • Strong understanding of analytics data modeling, including facts, dimensions, SCDs, and metric definitions • Experience building and supporting business-critical dashboards and reports • Comfort operating in warehouse or lakehouse environments (especially Databricks or similar platforms) • Ability to explain how numbers are derived and confidently present insights to non-technical stakeholders • Experience jumping into existing environments and delivering value quickly with minimal ramp-up Technologies Used in This Role • SQL (advanced, production-grade) • Databricks SQL / Databricks Lakehouse • Delta tables, curated views, semantic layers • Power BI (datasets, dashboards, reporting) • Cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP-based environments) Bonus Points For • Experience with Databricks SQL Warehouses, Unity Catalog, or similar governance models • Strong Power BI semantic modeling and dataset design experience • Prior consulting or short-term engagement experience • Exposure to construction, manufacturing, ERP, or operational analytics domains • Experience working in ambiguous or fast-moving enterprise environments
