Senior API Developer

Duration - 6 months contract to hire role - W2 only - GC/USC candidates only Location - Remote - EST hours Rate - 60-75/hour W2 Senior API Developer Looking for an experienced API Developer. This is a backend heavy role, support type with a heavy focus on troubleshooting issues, suggestions for improvement, documentation and API management. Will be providing operational support of APIs across the data organization and eventually that will branch out to support of all APIs developed for their internal products. The day-to-day consists of troubleshooting, designing and implementing full-stack solutions using Python, React, Azure services, and Temporal workflows. Eventually this role will include mentorship, cross-team consulting, and a voice in architectural decisions. Note: This role will have on-call responsibilities - rotating schedule, 2 weeks at a time as primary. Year to date they have only had 2 on calls for prod issues. MUST HAVE: • 8+ years of experience in professional software development. • Strong proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript (React). • Experience integrating with cloud platforms (Azure). • Solid understanding of APIs, containerized services, and distributed systems. Role/Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain scalable, secure APIs and services using Python. • Responsible for API governance, monitoring and alerting • Build and enhance React-based UIs for data-rich applications. • Design and implement Temporal workflows to automate business processes. • Mentor Associate Developers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, Data, and Architecture. • Contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release planning. • Take ownership of key components and advocate for best practices in code quality and architecture. • Support integration with Azure-hosted services (Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, Storage, etc.).
