Role description
Who We Are
Provoke is a global consulting firm building AI-native solutions that transform how work gets done. Founded on a culture of innovation, growth, and curiosity, we partner with global clients to design and deploy agentic AI embedded directly into workflows so teams move faster, think smarter, and scale with purpose.
Overview
We're seeking a Senior BI Developer and Data Engineer to own end-to-end delivery on client reporting engagements, from raw data ingestion through the dashboards end users see. This hands-on role spans Microsoft Fabric data engineering and Power BI report development. We're looking for versatile problem solvers who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are client-focused.
Key Responsibilities
Data Engineering
• Builds and maintains Fabric pipelines, Lakehouse/Warehouse objects, and PySpark notebooks across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers
• Writes and troubleshoots T-SQL and PySpark transformations, and diagnoses data quality issues back to their source
• Diagnoses and resolves production data incidents end to end, tracing failures across the AWS ingestion path (DynamoDB Streams, Lambda, Firehose, S3), Fabric, Power BI, and SharePoint back to their root cause
Reporting & Dashboards
• Designs and deploys Power BI reports from Fabric Gold-layer data, writes DAX measures for enterprise KPIs, and owns the report lifecycle from requirements through end-user testing
• Configures and supports Power BI reports embedded in SharePoint Online with Entra ID token passthrough
Security & Governance
• Implements Row-Level Security via Entra ID, and documents data flows and KPI definitions for governance and documentation
• Authors operational runbooks and as-built documentation for deployment, RLS validation, and handoff
Stakeholder Management
• Translates client business requirements into data models and report designs, and supports backlog triage and estimation
Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
• 4+ years of data engineering experience with 1.5 years of Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, pipelines, Notebooks, OneLake) or comparable Synapse/Databricks environment
• 4+ years of Power BI development, including advanced data modeling and DAX
• Strong PySpark and SQL skills; experience with medallion architecture and Delta Lake
• Working knowledge of cloud-native data services (streaming, serverless compute, object storage)
• Experience with RLS/CLS design and Entra ID-based security models
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead through influence; experience with Jira and SCRUM
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to client stakeholders, explaining complex data and reporting issues in plain, non-technical language
• Operates within client-controlled environments and approval gates, and adapts to each client's tools and processes
• Produces client-ready deliverables and leads knowledge transfer so client teams can operate and support the solution once handed over
Desirable Qualifications
• Microsoft certifications: DP-600, DP-203, or equivalent
• Experience with Power BI CI/CD and deployment pipelines
• Background in regulated industries (healthcare, telecom, finance)
Working Hours
US time zone alignment with PT. Flexibility to accommodate client schedules is part of the role.
Location
US. Travel 25-50% required.
Role Type & Work Authorization
This role is offered as W2 hourly employment. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without VISA sponsorship.
