Role description
Synechron is looking for a senior BA/Modeller to support semantic model mapping within a financial services environment. This role sits between a Business Analyst and a Data Modeller, with a stronger emphasis on business analysis than pure data modelling.
The successful candidate will bring strong financial markets knowledge and experience, along with the ability to understand both business processes and technology landscapes. They will play a key role in identifying, analysing, and cataloguing a variety of enterprise data sources, helping shape a semantic model that accurately reflects business meaning and supports wider data and reporting initiatives.
This role requires someone who can work confidently across business and technical teams, translating complex business concepts and market terminology into clear, structured data definitions and mappings.
ROLE:
β’ Lead and support semantic model mapping activity across complex financial services data environments
β’ Act as a hybrid Business Analyst / Modeller, with a primary focus on understanding business requirements and translating them into structured data artefacts
β’ Identify, analyse, and catalogue multiple data sources across the organisation to support the development of the semantic model
β’ Engage with business stakeholders to capture definitions, processes, terminology, and data usage
β’ Work with technology teams, architects, and data stakeholders to understand how data is sourced, transformed, and consumed across systems
β’ Translate business concepts into logical mappings, data relationships, and semantic structures
β’ Support the creation of consistent definitions, hierarchies, and relationships across datasets
β’ Ensure the semantic model reflects key financial markets concepts, products, workflows, and reporting needs
β’ Contribute to improved data consistency, traceability, and usability across the organisation
β’ Support wider data governance, metadata, and data lineage activities where relevant
EXPERIENCE:
β’ Strong experience in financial services with good financial markets knowledge
β’ Proven background in Business Analysis with data modelling exposure, with a stronger focus on BA
β’ Strong understanding of business and technology, with the ability to bridge both effectively
β’ Good knowledge of data modelling, metadata, mappings, and data governance principles
β’ Experience with metadata management and data quality controls
β’ Ability to identify, analyse, and catalogue data from multiple source systems
β’ Strong ability to interpret business processes and translate them into clear semantic and data structures
β’ Comfortable working with senior business and technology stakeholders
β’ Able to operate strategically while also getting into detailed analysis when needed
β’ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
β’ Experience working in complex, data-rich enterprise environments
β’ IT development or technical background, including exposure to mixed on-prem and cloud architectures
Strong market rates inside IR35 - Multi-year contract - x3 days in London office (City)
