Role description
Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)
Duration: 9-month contract (with the possibility of extension)
Compensation: $50–$75 per hour
Role Overview
We are supporting a U.S. health insurance organization in their search for a Senior Data Analyst with strong technical expertise across enterprise data environments. This role focuses on analyzing and optimizing existing datasets and reporting frameworks rather than greenfield development, requiring advanced SQL, strong data modeling skills, and experience working within regulated insurance data.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, views, and data models across relational data warehouses
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, performance drivers, and data quality issues
• Build scalable dashboards, automated reports, and self-service analytics solutions
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and analytical outputs
• Partner with engineering, product, and operations teams to support data-driven initiatives
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and anomaly detection across multiple source systems
• Optimize query performance and improve data pipeline efficiency
• Document data logic, transformations, and analytical methodologies
• Support ad hoc analysis, forecasting, KPI development, and leadership reporting
• Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards
Required Qualifications
• 3–5 years of experience in a senior or advanced data analyst role
• Strong background working with insurance, healthcare, or other highly regulated data domains
• Advanced SQL expertise (CTEs, window functions, performance tuning)
• Experience working with large-scale, normalized datasets
• Proficiency with BI and visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar)
• Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and analytical workflows
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Python or R for data analysis and automation
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Synapse, etc.)
• Exposure to ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline orchestration
• Experience working with version control (Git) and analytics engineering practices
• Prior experience supporting financial or operational analytics
