Senior Data Engineer

Location: London (Hybrid) Sector: Financial Services Engagement Type: Contract (Inside IR35) Role Overview One of our clients is seeking experienced Senior Data Engineers to support the design, build, and operation of production-grade data pipelines in a complex, large-scale regulated environment. This role involves close collaboration with internal engineering teams to improve data reliability, pipeline performance, and long-term system sustainability. You will be embedded within the client organisation, contributing directly to critical systems used in daily operations. Key Responsibilities • Build and operate batch and streaming pipelines with software engineering practices • Understand and remediate data quality issues. • Stabilise unreliable systems and resolve data quality issues • Improve system performance and reduce operational overhead • Collaborate with platform, infrastructure, security, and application teams Qualifications & Experience • Strong production experience in Data Engineering environments • Solid computer science fundamentals and data modelling skills • Proficiency in Python for data engineering (e.g. PySpark, Pandas) • Advanced SQL (and SparkSQL) with a strong focus on data quality and lineage • Experience with Spark, Athena, Glue, Redshift or similar technologies • Cloud experience in AWS Engagement Details • Long-term (1yr) engagement with potential for extension into 2027 • Hybrid working model: 3 days per week in Central London. • Very competitive daily rate • Start date: within 1 month, subject to background checks and onboarding.
