Job Title: Senior Data Engineer (Gaming / Social Products)
Position Type: Contract (3 months with strong potential to extend)
Location: San Mateo, CA (Hybrid or Onsite Preferred)
Salary Range: $80 β $100/hour (based on experience and contract terms)
Weβre seeking a Data Engineer to support the analytics and product development teams at a fast-scaling, immersive digital experience platform serving tens of millions of users daily. This role will partner closely with the Data Science & Analytics team focused on social features, helping build scalable data infrastructure to power insights, experimentation, and rapid innovation in gaming and virtual community products.
What Youβll Do:
β’ Build and maintain scalable ETL pipelines and structured data layers to support analytical products for social and community features.
β’ Collaborate with product and data science partners on telemetry design for new product launches.
β’ Optimize existing data processes and transform raw telemetry into actionable, trusted datasets.
β’ Contribute to foundational data infrastructure that supports analytics, reporting, and product experimentation.
β’ Perform exploratory and descriptive analyses in partnership with data scientists and product stakeholders.
Qualifications:
β’ 4+ years of experience in data engineering, analytical engineering, or a similar role.
β’ Proficiency with SQL, data modeling, pipeline design, and processing large-scale telemetry data.
β’ Familiarity with ETL tools, cloud data platforms, and dashboarding/BI frameworks.
β’ Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work autonomously, and a growth mindset.
β’ Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
β’ Bonus: Experience with product metrics, dashboard development, or analytics for social or gaming products.
