Role description
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Freelance) to support the design, development, and optimization of scalable data systems for a fast-paced, data-driven organization. This role requires deep technical expertise across modern cloud data platforms and a strong ability to build robust, efficient pipelines that power analytics and business insights. Key Responsibilities β€’ Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows β€’ Develop and optimize data architectures using cloud-based solutions β€’ Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and product teams to deliver high-quality datasets β€’ Implement data modeling strategies to support analytics and reporting needs β€’ Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance across systems β€’ Optimize performance and cost-efficiency of data infrastructure β€’ Troubleshoot and resolve complex data engineering issues β€’ Contribute to best practices, documentation, and code standards Required Qualifications β€’ 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field β€’ Strong experience with Azure (Data Factory, Synapse, or related services) β€’ Hands-on experience with Databricks for large-scale data processing β€’ Deep knowledge of Snowflake data warehousing β€’ Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL β€’ Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines β€’ Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing concepts, and distributed systems β€’ Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications β€’ Experience with streaming data technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming) β€’ Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code β€’ Knowledge of data governance and security best practices β€’ Previous experience in enterprise or high-volume data environments Working Model β€’ Hybrid role based in Atlanta, GA β€’ 4 days onsite per week, 1 day remote Contract Details β€’ Freelance / contract engagement β€’ Competitive hourly or daily rate, based on experience β€’ Potential for extension based on performance and project needs
