Senior Data Engineer (Contract) – Hybrid (London) - SQL, Python, Cloud We’re working with a well-established organisation looking for a Senior Data Engineer to support critical data initiatives and platform improvements. This is a delivery-focused contract role with real impact across a complex data environment. The Role You’ll take ownership of improving data integrations, diagnosing performance issues, and optimising SQL Server environments to drive scalability and stability across the platform. Senior Data Engineer (Contract) – Hybrid (London) - SQL, Python, Cloud What You’ll Be Doing • Designing and improving data integrations across systems and cloud platforms • Investigating and resolving SQL Server performance bottlenecks • Optimising queries, indexing, and database structures • Reviewing server configurations to enhance performance and scalability • Supporting live systems with root-cause analysis and long-term fixes • Collaborating with internal teams and external vendors First 3 Months Focus • Map end-to-end data flows, dependencies, and risks • Identify key performance bottlenecks across database, queries, and infrastructure • Analyse high-impact queries and implement optimisation strategies • Provide clear recommendations to improve system performance and scaling • Contribute to load testing and performance analysis What We’re Looking For • Strong experience as a Senior Data Engineer in complex environments • Deep expertise in SQL Server performance tuning • Solid understanding of data integration patterns & architecture • Experience working with high-scale systems and performance analysis • Ability to work autonomously and deliver measurable outcomes Location: Hybrid (North London) Contract: Pays £550-£620 Inside IR35 Length: 3-months initially, with the view to extend Senior Data Engineer (Contract) – Hybrid (London) - SQL, Python, Cloud
