Senior Data Engineer
We're partnering with a leading technology business that operates one of the largest consumer digital platforms in Europe. They're looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for building and scaling modern data platforms that support millions of users globally.
This is an opportunity to work on large-scale, cloud-native data solutions, collaborating with product, engineering and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-quality data products that drive commercial decision making.
What You'll Be Doing
• Design, build and maintain scalable data models and distributed ETL pipelines across large datasets.
• Develop robust cloud-based data solutions using modern data engineering technologies.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into technical data solutions.
• Champion DataOps principles, engineering best practices and continuous improvement across the team.
• Build high-performance data pipelines using technologies including Google BigQuery, Python, SQL and dbt.
• Optimise data platforms for performance, scalability and reliability.
• Support multiple Agile delivery teams, providing technical leadership and data engineering expertise.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to raising engineering standards across the wider team.
• Help shape the future architecture of the organisation's data platform, ensuring alignment with governance and engineering best practices.
• Investigate and resolve production data issues, ensuring platform stability and operational excellence.
Required Skills & Experience
• Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer or Senior Data Engineer.
• Expertise designing and building large-scale ETL pipelines and data models.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience working across large, complex datasets.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Google BigQuery.
• Commercial experience using dbt for data transformation and pipeline development.
• Experience building cloud-based data warehouse solutions.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and modern data architecture.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, testing practices and Agile development.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues and maintain highly available data platforms.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Lakehouse architecture
• Customer or commerce data platforms
• Third-party data integrations
• Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD)
