Remote - 12 Months Contract About the Project: Join the Office of Technology and Innovation to help transform the future of job search in the city! As a Senior Data Engineer for the MyCity Careers project, you will play a pivotal role in building and optimizing modern, secure, and scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions that will replace and enhance the current job search service. What You’ll Do: • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and understand data requirements for the MyCity Careers platform. • Design and develop robust data architectures that support large-scale data processing and storage, leveraging cloud-based technologies. • Build and maintain data pipelines, models, and ETL/ELT processes using Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services or comparable tools, ensuring data quality and alignment with business needs. • Integrate with cloud data stores such as Snowflake and Azure Data Lake, and develop analytics solutions with tools like Google Looker or Microsoft Power BI. • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, and scalability. • Ensure data integrity and quality across multiple platforms and sources. • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve data engineering workflows and performance. • Mentor junior engineers on best practices, code reviews, and design patterns to foster high-quality, maintainable solutions. • Work in an Agile environment, contributing to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure deployment using Terraform. What You Bring: Mandatory • 12+ years of data engineering experience with a focus on designing and building scalable cloud-based data platforms. • Expertise in Snowflake database design and strong SQL proficiency. • Programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala. • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform), including storage, compute, and data processing services. • Experience designing and implementing ETL/data integration pipelines and familiarity with data modeling and database design. • Experience managing data orchestration at scale using tools like Airflow or Dagster. • Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD principles. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record in Agile team environments. Bonus Skills: • Experience developing dashboards and reports in Oracle Analytics Server, Microsoft Power BI, or Google Looker. • Experience with data integration tools such as Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services and MuleSoft. • Azure services expertise (Security, Blob Storage, Data Lake, Databricks, Data Factory, Monitoring). • Relevant certifications (Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Snowpro, or similar).
