Senior / Lead Data Engineer
Azure - GIS - Python
£500-550 per day, Outside IR35
Initially until the end of March
Start 19th of January
Fully Remote
We're supporting one of our favorite Consulting partners source a Senior Data Engineer to join a project team delivering a high profile Government program.
You'll join a team delivering an Alpha phase comprising of 5 integrated blocks of work.
You must have / be able to obtain BPSS Clearance.
Skills/experience required:
The role requires a hands-on technical leader capable of building modern data infrastructure in a built-environment context:
● Cloud Engineering: Hands-on expertise in Azure administration and secure environment configuration.
● GIS Technical Stack: Proficiency in QGIS, PostGIS, or similar spatial database management.
● Scripting & AI: Advanced Python or similar for data scraping, cleaning, and AI-enhanced digitisation.
● API Management: Building and consuming APIs for government data platforms.
Professional Capabilities:
The Data Engineer must possess the leadership qualities necessary to drive digital transformation across new organizations:
● Technical Troubleshooting: Ability to navigate complex IT challenges, such as integrating legacy software with modern departmental security requirements.
● Collaborative Technical Leadership: Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams (with Service Designers and Data Architects) to deliver discovery, alpha, and beta phases.
● Agile Delivery: Capability to manage the rapid creation and publication of data in a fast-paced "shadow unit" environment.
● Mentorship: Willingness to support a community of practice, sharing best practices and technical "no-regrets" actions
● Outcome-Driven Mindset: Focus on reducing technical debt and ensuring data is FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) for long-term use.
