Role description
Job Title: Senior Data Engineer Location: Remote Job Summary Senior Data Engineer to support the Radiology Data & Analytics team in designing and implementing a modern Radiology data warehouse and analytics environment using Microsoft Fabric. This role will work collaboratively with engineers, analysts, and cross-functional partners to build scalable data pipelines, develop robust data models, and support analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives across the Radiology domain. This position is 100% remote, with equipment provided. Strong candidates may be considered for a future full-time (potential contract-to-hire). Key Responsibilities β€’ Design and implement ETL/ELT data pipelines following best practices in data management and governance. β€’ Analyze and process complex institutional and Radiology data sources in a fast-paced environment. β€’ Build and optimize data models, including dimensional/star schema design. β€’ Develop automated, parameterized, and testable data pipelines (batch and/or streaming). β€’ Apply data quality principles ensuring consistency, reliability, and high user experience. β€’ Collaborate with cross-platform teams to support enterprise-wide data operations. β€’ Create and maintain detailed functional and technical documentation. β€’ Explore and evaluate new technologies, tools, and feature updates to improve data engineering practices. β€’ Mentor junior data engineers and support internal upskilling in Microsoft Fabric. β€’ Recommend and implement process improvements and automation opportunities. Required Skills & Experience β€’ 5+ years of hands-on SQL programming experience. β€’ 3+ years building and maintaining automated data pipelines (ETL/ELT, batch or streaming). β€’ Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, including: β€’ Data Warehouse β€’ OneLake β€’ Data Pipelines β€’ Power BI integration β€’ Real-Time Analytics β€’ Expertise in advanced SQL/T-SQL, performance tuning, and indexing. β€’ Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation and integration. β€’ Experience designing scalable cloud data architectures aligned with security standards. β€’ Knowledge of metadata management, lineage, and data governance. β€’ Understanding of CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, Git, Azure DevOps, Terraform. β€’ Experience working with clinical, imaging, or research datasets in a healthcare environment. β€’ Knowledge of HIPAA, PHI security, and healthcare data compliance. β€’ Strong communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences. β€’ Demonstrated success working with IT, clinical teams, analysts, and data scientists. Education β€’ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field β€’ OR β€’ Equivalent experience (5+ years).
