Senior Data Governance Consultant – Contract Location: London, UK (1 day per week onsite in Paddington) Contract: Inside IR35 Rate: Up to £850 per day Az-Tec Talent is supporting a leading consultancy on a large-scale Master Data Management (MDM) and Data Governance transformation programme for a global retail client. We are looking for a Senior Data Governance Consultant to play a key role in designing and implementing enterprise-wide governance capabilities. This engagement focuses on establishing a proactive data governance framework, improving data quality, ownership, and operational processes across critical business domains. Key Responsibilities • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise data governance frameworks • Define ownership, stewardship models, and governance operating models • Establish data quality standards, monitoring, and remediation processes • Design and implement data contracts across systems and platforms • Define metadata standards, categorisation, and observability practices • Contribute to access control models and governance policies • Create playbooks, templates, and governance artefacts for BAU adoption • Engage with senior stakeholders across business and technology Programme Scope • Enterprise MDM foundation programme across multiple domains (e.g. Customer, Product, Finance) • Focus on key areas including: • Ownership & Stewardship • Data Contracts • Data Quality Standards • Metadata & Categorisation • Access Control Models • Master Data Observability Required Experience • Strong experience as a Senior Data Governance Consultant / MDM Consultant • Proven experience designing and implementing data governance operating models • Experience with MDM programmes and enterprise data frameworks • Strong understanding of data quality, stewardship, and metadata management • Experience working with data contracts and governance processes • Ability to work with senior stakeholders and drive governance adoption • Retail industry experience is highly beneficial This is a high-impact role on a strategic data transformation programme, ideal for someone who can drive enterprise-wide governance maturity and MDM foundations.
