About Billigence:
Billigence is a boutique data consultancy with global outreach and clientele, transforming the way organizations work with data. We leverage cutting-edge technologies to design, tailor, and implement advanced Business Intelligence solutions across a wide range of applications—from process digitization through to Cloud Data Warehousing, Visualisation, Data Science, and Data Governance. Headquartered in Sydney, Australia, with offices around the world, we help clients navigate complex business conditions, eliminate inefficiencies, and enable scalable adoption of an analytics-driven culture.
About the Role:
Working with our global food and packaging client, you will take on a key role as a Senior Data Governance Consultant, leading the design and delivery of enterprise-wide data governance capabilities. The focus will be on data cataloguing, metadata management, and data stewardship enablement—with hands-on delivery across platforms such as Collibra and Alation.
You will collaborate closely with business, data, compliance, and technology stakeholders to embed governance best practices and align implementation with strategic data objectives. This is a strategic yet delivery-focused role, requiring deep experience in governance frameworks, catalogue configuration, and regulatory alignment (e.g., GDPR), along with the ability to drive adoption across both business and technical teams.
What You’ll Do:
• Serve as a subject matter expert in data governance tools (Collibra, Alation) and metadata management best practices
• Design and implement governance operating models, stewardship workflows, and business glossaries
• Lead discovery and onboarding of metadata assets—ensuring traceability across lineage, ownership, and policy layers
• Configure and customise Collibra or Alation environments to align with business and technical requirements
• Partner with data stewards and SMEs to define and enforce data governance policies
• Deliver enablement and training sessions to drive stakeholder adoption and embed governance across the organisation
• Support the integration of catalogues with data warehouses, BI platforms, and data quality tooling
• Contribute to internal collateral development (frameworks, templates, accelerators, and go-to-market offerings)
What You’ll Need:
• 5+ years in data governance or metadata management roles
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Collibra, Alation, or similar data governance/catalogue platforms
• Strong understanding of data governance principles, including ownership, lineage, glossary, and policy management
• Experience deploying catalogues into large-scale data environments (cloud-based preferred)
• Familiarity with data privacy and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, BCBS 239, etc.)
• Confident communicator who can engage senior stakeholders and translate business needs into technical design
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams—bridging business, data, and technology
• Experience with SQL or scripting languages (Python, REST APIs) is a plus
• High attention to detail, critical thinking, and a proactive delivery mindset
Inclusion and Equal Opportunities:
We’re always looking for talented individuals to join our team at Billigence. As an inclusive, equal-opportunity employer, we welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to creating an environment that values diversity in all its forms. We consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, neurodiversity, disability, age, parental status, or veteran status.
