ML Demo Engineer- Prototype the Next Wave of Intelligent Experiences
Are you a builder at heart who thrives on turning complex machine learning models into interactive, real-world demos?
Weβre hiring a Machine Learning Demo Engineer to join an advanced technology lab operating on a premier studio lot in Burbank. Youβll play a key role in integrating, prototyping, and deploying ML models that support hands-on demonstrations for senior executives and innovation partners. Projects range from generative AI and real-time interfaces to infrastructure design and full-stack development.
This role is ideal for engineers who want to apply ML expertise in a highly creative, fast-moving environment. Your technical skills will directly power dynamic, high-visibility experiences that help shape the future of entertainment and storytelling.
Job Summary
As part of the StudioLAB team, you will join a team of innovators within the Office of Technology Enablement that include multi-skilled individuals with broad experience in a wide range of specialisms and industries, collectively capable of prototyping and delivering Studios-
centric software, hardware, new kinds of content and experiences, and even new lines of cinematic-related business.
We are looking for a Senior Demo Engineer ML to join our Client's StudioLAB team. This position will have a core role in the implementation and execution of our Lab, a hands-on showroom demonstrating the latest in production technology innovation. This person will report to the Senior Manager, Lab Space.
The Sr Demo Engineer ML is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of StudioLAB demos. These demos will demonstrate the cutting-edge of production technology tools and techniques in simple, hands-on ways. They must be robust, intuitive, and adaptable to new
functionality. These demonstrations cover the full range of the filmmaking pipeline, including but not limited to AI/ML, game engines, virtual production, animation, VFX, editorial, etc. They may be implemented using a variety of technical formats, including web-based applications,
cloud-based applications, stand-alone applications, desktop-based applications, mobile- based applications, DCC-based plugins (for Maya, Houdini, etc). They may require configuring fully-packed off-the-shelf applications, compiling open source code, writing custom code, or a mix of each. They may showcase a mix of 3rd party applications as well as in-house proprietary technologies. They may be software-based, hardware-based, or a mix of both.
Build technology demos around cutting-edge production tools, both 3rd party and
proprietary, with an emphasis on emerging AIML technologies.
- Maintain robust functionality of demos through daily operation and upgrades.
- Document implementation of tools and systems.
- Work with R&D engineers and studio colleagues to explore new technologies and recommend intuitive, self-service ways to showcase core functionality/innovations.
- Assist with tours of the lab space for visiting groups.
- Provide content and programming updates to the control app and relevant
infrastructure components, as needed to facilitate demo functionality and
integration.
Basic Qualifications
6+ years of experience as a Sr Software Engineer, ideally working on interactive
toolsets, such as those used in museum exhibits, attractions, or showrooms.
- Versatile full-stack coder, proficient across a variety of languages/frameworks (C++,
Python, C#, React, AppleScript, etc).
- Proficient in ML prototyping ecosystems (ComfyUI, Gradio, etc) and MLOps deployment
methodologies.
- Familiarity with and able to author plugins for standard filmmaking applications (Maya,
Houdini, Nuke, Avid, Premiere, etc).
- Comfortable interfacing with specialty hardware, such as AR/VR devices, touch screens,
microcontrollers, etc.
- Ability to code on and automate within a variety of operating systems (Windows,
Mac, Linux).
- Good sense of UX and human interface design.
- Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, and presentational).
Compensation:
The compensation range for this position is $78/hr. - $87/hr. (approx. $156,000 - $174,000 annualized). Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidateβs relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
Benefits:
Medical, Dental, Vision, Hearing, Employee Assistance Program, Life, AD&D, and Long-term Disability Insurance, Retirement program with a 3% company match (no vesting limitation), interactive employee reward & recognition program, and equipment provision.
