Role description
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Dynatrace Engineer to own our observability platform end‑to‑end—covering configuration, monitoring, dashboards, alerting, and DevOps integrations. You’ll design standards, automate deployments, mentor engineers, and turn telemetry into actionable insights that improve reliability, performance, and delivery speed.
What You’ll Do
Lead the design, rollout, and governance of Dynatrace across cloud and on‑prem (hosts, K8s/containers, serverless, services, mobile/web RUM, synthetics).
Implement OneAgent/Operator deployment at scale; define tagging/metadata rules, management zones, and access models.
Build Dashboards (Dashboards 2.0) and Notebooks using DQL that surface SLI/SLOs, error budgets, performance KPIs, capacity, and cost signals.
Configure alerting profiles, maintenance windows, problem detection thresholds, and Davis AI anomaly detection to reduce noise while catching true incidents.
Instrument services via OpenTelemetry/OTLP, custom metrics, logs (Grail), traces, and events.
Create and standardize synthetic monitors (HTTP/browser), availability checks, and API health.
Integrate Dynatrace with DevOps/CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab) for quality gates, deployment annotations, and release validation.
Manage Monitoring‑as‑Code using Monaco v2 and/or the Dynatrace Terraform provider; build reusable modules and pipelines.
Drive Kubernetes/Openshift visibility: workloads, namespaces, services, Ingress, and cluster health; tune resource and network observability.
Partner with SRE/App teams to run performance tests, root‑cause analysis (Service Flow, PurePath), and capacity planning.
Champion incident response playbooks, on‑call metrics, AIOps enrichment, and post‑incident reviews.
Mentor engineers and evangelize best practices for instrumentation, dashboards, and alert design.
Required Qualifications (Senior)
5–8+ years in Observability/SRE/DevOps roles, including 3+ years hands‑on with Dynatrace at scale.
Proven expertise with OneAgent/Operator, management zones, tagging strategies, alerting profiles, and problem detection tuning.
Strong skills building Dashboards 2.0 / Notebooks and writing DQL to create actionable views for engineering and business stakeholders.
Practical experience with Grail logs, custom metrics/events, RUM, Synthetic monitoring, and Davis AI.
Deep understanding of Kubernetes/Openshift (workloads, autoscaling, service meshes) and container runtimes.
Solid DevOps background: CI/CD pipelines, release orchestration, deployment annotations, and environment promotion strategies.
Infrastructure knowledge across AWS/Azure/GCP; networking, load balancing, TLS/certs, and Linux fundamentals.
Proficiency with IaC/Monitoring‑as‑Code (Monaco v2, Terraform) and scripting (Python/Bash/PowerShell).
Excellent collaboration and communication; able to lead standards and coach product teams.
Nice to Have
Dynatrace Professional/Associate certifications
Experience integrating with ITSM/ChatOps (ServiceNow/Jira/Slack/MS Teams) and incident tooling (PagerDuty/Opsgenie).
Performance engineering (load testing with k6/JMeter/Gatling) and capacity forecasting.
Security observability (Dynatrace Application Security), compliance dashboards, and threat detection signals.
How We Work
Platform/SRE mindset: paved roads, reusable modules, self‑service dashboards.
Data‑driven reliability with SLI/SLOs and continuous improvement.
Blameless postmortems and a strong documentation culture.
Job Type: Contract
Work Location: In person
