Position: Senior Engineer - Observability & Real-Time Monitoring (FOCUS Framework)- (Quick-Sight Engineer)
Location: Irvine, CA (Hybrid)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Observability Engineer to build and enhance real-time monitoring and logging capabilities for Panasonicβs digital services, starting with the Surveys and Marketplace Catalog-air services. The engineer will work to implement Open-Telemetry-based observability, stream data pipelines into AWS-native tools, and create real-time health dashboards. This role is part of a high-visibility initiative that ensures application health, operational transparency, and proactive alerting for mission-critical customer-facing systems.
Responsibilities:
β’ Instrument backend services using Open-Telemetry for logs, traces, and metrics.
β’ Integrate observability data pipelines with the FOCUS framework.
β’ Configure and manage AWS OpenSearch, QuickSight and Kinesis Data Streams/KDA.
β’ Build and deploy QuickSight dashboards for service health monitoring.
β’ Implement near real-time alerting and automated escalation mechanisms.
β’ Extend monitoring to additional services (e.g., Catalog-air).
β’ Define performance baselines and set up anomaly detection rules.
β’ Collaborate with backend and DevOps teams to ensure secure and scalable observability pipelines.
β’ Document runbooks, observability architecture, and onboarding guides.
Required Skills:
β’ 5+ years of experience in backend or DevOps engineering focused on observability.
β’ Strong hands-on expertise in OpenTelemetry instrumentation and integrations.
β’ Proficient in AWS services: OpenSearch, CloudWatch, Kinesis Data Streams & Analytics, Lambda, QuickSight.
β’ Experience in log/metric processing and visualization pipelines.
β’ Solid scripting experience (Node.js, Python, or TypeScript).
β’ Experience with distributed systems and microservices monitoring.
β’ Understanding of security and privacy best practices in observability.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Exposure to GraphQL APIs and AWS AppSync instrumentation.
β’ Familiarity with LLM/AI-assisted logging enrichment.
β’ Experience with client-facing runtime app monitoring (e.g., browser/IFE environment).
β’ Background in performance benchmarking, SLIs/SLOs, and operational excellence.
β’ Agile experience using Jira and Confluence.
