Senior GIS Analyst Enterprise Geospatial Systems & End-User Support 4 days onsite in downtown Houston, 1 day remote (Fridays - also half-days on Fridays) Job Description: The Senior GIS Analyst will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for geospatial systems across the company, supporting development, operations, land, and marketing teams. This role is responsible for building and managing enterprise-wide GIS databases, delivering spatial analysis, and providing technical guidance to end users. The analyst will ensure the accuracy and integrity of geospatial data and lead efforts to integrate GIS into business workflows for data-driven decision-making and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: β€’ Design, build, and maintain evergreen enterprise geodatabases and web maps. β€’ Serve as SME for GIS tools and workflows, providing support and training to field and office staff. β€’ Collect, organize, and manage spatial data for wells, pads, leases, surface rights, title coverage, pipelines, roads, facilities, and competitor assets. β€’ Develop and publish maps and spatial datasets to support development, production, marketing, and land management. β€’ Manage spatial data within relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS). β€’ Perform spatial analysis to optimize well placement, infrastructure planning, and access routes. β€’ Ensure GIS data accuracy and alignment with regulatory filings and internal systems. β€’ Support permitting and compliance efforts through map creation and spatial analysis. β€’ Collaborate with geologists, engineers, land teams, and marketing to embed GIS into daily operations. β€’ Document metadata and maintain data lineage for all spatial datasets. β€’ Troubleshoot GIS issues and implement best practices for data quality and automation. β€’ Stay current on GIS technologies and regulatory mapping standards. Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities: β€’ Bachelor s degree in GIS, Geography, Geoscience, Environmental Science, or related field. β€’ 5+ years of hands-on GIS experience in upstream oil & gas operations. β€’ Proven ability to deliver solutions with minimal tactical guidance. β€’ Expertise in GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, QGIS) and spatial databases. β€’ Proficiency in SQL-based relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial). β€’ Strong understanding of upstream oil & gas workflows and infrastructure. β€’ Familiarity with land survey data, legal descriptions, and coordinate systems (PLSS, UTM, State Plane). β€’ Excellent data management and quality control skills. β€’ Ability to interpret aerial imagery, survey plats, and engineering drawings. β€’ Strong communication skills for translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Experience, Skills, and Abilities: β€’ Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and BI tools (e.g., Spotfire). β€’ Knowledge of Python or ModelBuilder for GIS automation. β€’ Familiarity with GeoPandas and other geospatial Python libraries.
