Senior HCL Digital Experience (DX) Developer

Can be offshore Position Type: 6-Month Contract (Potential for extension based on performance) Responsibilities Asponte is seeking a Senior HCL DX Developer with a strong background in enterprise-grade Java development and content management. This role is focused on building and optimizing digital experiences within the HCL DX platform (v9.5+). You will be responsible for the end-to-end development of custom portlets, WCM components, and modern script applications. The ideal candidate is a technical problem-solver who can bridge the gap between complex backend Java logic and sophisticated frontend content delivery. Qualifications • Custom Java Development: Design, develop, and maintain server-side components using JDK 8+ and JSR 286 portlet specifications. • WCM Architecture: Architect and implement complex Web Content Manager (WCM) structures, including authoring templates, presentation templates, and content components. • Modernization & Script Apps: Build and deploy Script Applications using JavaScript frameworks (React/Vue/Angular) integrated within the DX ecosystem. • Platform Management: Deploy and configure applications within WebSphere Application Server and leverage DX v9.5 cloud-native features (including DXClient for CI/CD automation). • System Integration: Develop and consume RESTful APIs and integrate HCL DX with external enterprise systems. • Performance Tuning: Optimize WCM rendering, caching strategies, and portlet performance to ensure a high-quality end-user experience. Technical Qualifications • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience with the HCL Digital Experience (formerly IBM WebSphere Portal) platform. • Java Focus: Expert proficiency in Java (JDK 8+), including experience with enterprise design patterns and the Java Portlet API. • Platform Versions: Deep knowledge of DX v9.0 and v9.5; experience with containerized deployments (Docker/Kubernetes) is a major plus. • WCM Expertise: Highly comfortable working in WCM, specifically with library management, permissions, API/SPI, and advanced personalization (PZN) rules. • Tooling: Proficient with WebSphere Application Server (WAS), Maven, and version control (Git). • Frontend Skills: Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, with specific experience in the Script Application framework. Soft Skills • Strong communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders and cross-functional teams. • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, contract-driven environment. • • A "consultant mindset" – proactive in identifying performance bottlenecks or architectural improvements.
