Job Title: Senior Java-AWS Backend Engineer (Serverless Expert)
Location: Ashburn, VA (Hybrid β Minimum 3 days onsite)
Eligibility: U.S. Citizens Only β Must be able to obtain and maintain DHS clearance
PayRate: $60/hr onwards ( Negotiable based on experience & engagement type)
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and AWS Serverless technologies. This is a strategic, hands-on role requiring 15+ years of backend development experience and a demonstrated ability to architect, develop, and maintain high-performance systems using modern cloud-native tools and frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Architect, design, and develop robust backend systems using Java, Spring Boot, and AWS Serverless technologies (e.g., Lambda, API Gateway).
1. Lead backend development efforts and guide solution architecture decisions across multiple projects.
1. Integrate applications with relational and NoSQL databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
1. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, DevOps, and QA, to ensure seamless delivery.
1. Develop and maintain secure, testable, and efficient code using modern practices (TDD, CI/CD).
1. Perform code reviews and provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members.
1. Ensure application scalability, performance optimization, and compliance with DHS security standards.
1. Stay abreast of the latest developments in Java, cloud computing, and software engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications:
1. 15+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with a focus on backend development.
1. Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful API design.
1. Proven experience deploying and operating applications in AWS, especially Serverless Architecture (Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFormation/SAM).
1. Strong experience with MongoDB is essential.
1. Proficient in working with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
1. Experience with version control systems such as Git.
1. Solid understanding of DevSecOps practices and secure application development.
1. Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning skills.
1. Effective communication skills and ability to work in a hybrid, fast-paced, agile team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with WebLogic or any J2EE-compliant application servers.
1. Proficiency in Python, particularly for AI/ML or data processing workflows.
1. Familiarity with Unix Shell scripting for automation and operational tasks.
1. Exposure to CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.
1. Previous experience working with DHS or similar federal programs is a strong plus.
