Role description
The Opportunity
Golden Charter, the UK's leading independent funeral plan provider, is building the analytical capability to match its ambition.
As the business undergoes significant transformation and scales its marketing function, we need a Senior Marketing Analyst who can own Power BI dashboard development and maintenance, deliver monthly performance reporting with commercial insight, and act as the bridge between marketing stakeholders and our other data teams.
This is a front-end, stakeholder-facing position for someone who can build brilliant dashboards and tell the business what the data means.
What You'll Do:
Own Power BI for Marketing
• Take the lead on all marketing dashboard design, build, maintenance, and ongoing development
• Create dashboards that are insightful that stakeholders across the marketing function genuinely rely on
• Be a data steward for data issues. Working with the central data team for further technical support when required
Deliver Monthly Performance Reporting
• Support the Marketing Analytics Partner to produce KPI reporting for marketing performance and campaign reporting
• Not just building reports - interpreting them. Tell us what the data means. Surface trends, anomalies, and opportunities
• Present insights to senior marketing leadership that directly influence decisions
Bridge Marketing and Data Teams
• Support the Marketing Analytics Partner to act as the "middle person" who speaks both languages - technical enough to work with data teams, commercial enough to present to the CMO
• Translate business questions into analytical requirements
• Support optimisation recommendations across digital and offline channels
Project Work
• Source code analysis – deep dive into the marketing campaign tracking
• Campaign phone number allocation – understand how the telephone marketing system integrates with our data and producing telephone tracking optimisation
• Ad hoc analysis as priorities emerge
What We Need:
Must Have:
• Power BI expertise - You'll be our Power BI lead. This is the core technical focus.
• Commercial reporting experience - Marketing KPIs, campaign performance, stakeholder dashboards. You've done this before at a senior level
• Insight delivery, not just data presentation - You can interpret what the data means and present it compellingly to non-technical senior stakeholders
• Senior stakeholder engagement - Comfortable presenting to CMO-level leadership and defending your analysis
• SQL capability - Working understanding for data extraction and manipulation (JOINs, aggregations, basic queries)
Nice to Have:
• Marketing sector experience (though strong analysts from financial services, retail, FMCG equally valued)
• Google Analytics 4 awareness & understanding
• Experience working with external agencies and external stakeholders
• Financial services or regulated sector exposure
Why Golden Charter?
The Business:
• UK's leading independent funeral plan provider, stewarding a £1.2bn Trust fund
• ~200 employees, FCA-regulated, owned by SAIFCharter (780+ independent funeral firms)
• New CEO leadership with financial services background driving data-led transformation
• Headquartered in Aurora Building, Bothwell Street - Glasgow's premier Grade A office address alongside JP Morgan and Barclays
The Role:
• Own Power BI for an entire marketing function during transformation project
• Visible impact - your dashboards will inform strategy, your insights will shape decisions
• Work within a small, focused Marketing Data & Insights team where your contribution genuinely matters
• Be part of a significant business transformation programme
The Package:
• Salary: £50,000–£56,000 (dependent on experience)
• Pension: 6% employer contribution (£3,000–£3,360 per year)
• Working week: 35 hours
• Leave: 28 days + flexible bank holidays + buy/sell scheme
• Health: Medicash covering dental, optical, physio, Virtual GP, 24/7 EAP
• Life assurance: 4x salary from day one (£200–224k cover)
• Smart Flex: £1,000 annual allowance (gym, retail discounts, car leasing, Kids Pass, Gourmet Society)
• Remote-first: Office attendance ~2x monthly for team meetings/collaboration & as and when required
• Perks: Weekly on-site massage
The Team You'll Join
You'll join the Data & Insights team within Marketing, reporting to the Senior Insights Manager. The Marketing Analytics Partner is being absorbed into broader transformation initiatives - you'll backfill significant portions of that work, particularly around Power BI ownership and monthly performance reporting.
You'll operate as the Power BI expert and commercial insight lead, working autonomously and collaborating across marketing, the customer data team, the central data team, and external agencies.
Is This Role Right for You?
You'll thrive if:
• You're a Power BI expert who loves building dashboards people rely on
• You have strong commercial reporting experience and can interpret data, not just present it
• You enjoy technical work that drives commercial insight
• You enjoy stakeholder engagement and presenting to senior leadership
• You're comfortable with a 9-month FTC
• You want visible impact in a smaller team during genuine business transformation
This probably isn't the right fit if:
• Your primary passion is backend data engineering and infrastructure
• You need fully defined, stable frameworks and find ambiguity uncomfortable
Golden Charter is committed to building an inclusive workplace. If this role excites you but your experience doesn't align perfectly with every requirement, we'd still encourage you to apply.
