Role description
We are seeking an experienced professional to join our Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA) team in support of advanced nuclear reactor development. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary group of engineers dedicated to ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of next-generation nuclear technology.
Position Overview
The Senior Nuclear Safety Analyst will play a key role in developing methods and performing safety analyses that demonstrate compliance with licensing requirements. This includes evaluations of the reactor core, coolant systems, engineered safety features, containment structures, and radiological consequences for both anticipated operational occurrences (AOOs) and design basis accidents (DBAs).
The role also involves supporting the development, verification, and validation of computer codes used in safety evaluations. This is a highly collaborative position where your technical expertise will directly contribute to the successful deployment of innovative nuclear technology.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Develop and apply methods for deterministic safety analysis of reactor systems.
β’ Perform detailed evaluations of reactor behavior under normal and accident conditions.
β’ Support the validation and maintenance of safety analysis computer codes.
β’ Ensure compliance with NRC regulatory requirements and industry standards.
β’ Prepare high-quality technical reports and documentation for licensing submittals.
β’ Collaborate closely with engineers across multiple disciplines to integrate safety insights into reactor design.
Qualifications
β’ Bachelorβs degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
β’ At least 10 years of experience in light water reactor (LWR) safety analysis.
β’ Strong familiarity with thermal-hydraulic behavior of LWRs.
β’ Experience with safety analysis codes such as RELAP5, RETRAN, COBRA, VIPRE, or GOTHIC.
β’ Comprehensive knowledge of NRC regulations related to LWR safety analyses and code validation.
β’ Understanding of NQA-1 software quality assurance programs.
β’ Programming experience in FORTRAN, C++, or Python is a plus.
β’ Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
β’ Must be eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810 requirements.
