Senior Power BI Developer

Power BI Developer (Contract) Location: Remote Type: Contract (6-12 months, possible extension) About the Role We are looking for a skilled Power BI Developer (Contract) to join our dynamic analytics team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing interactive dashboards and data models that drive business insights. This is an excellent opportunity for consultants passionate about translating complex data into actionable intelligence and working with the latest BI technologies. Key Responsibilities • Design and Develop Power BI Solutions: • Create visually compelling, user-friendly dashboards and reports using Power BI, tailored to stakeholder needs. • Data Modeling & Transformation: • Develop efficient data models (star/snowflake schemas) and use Power Query/M, DAX for complex calculations and transformations. • Data Integration: • Connect and integrate data from multiple sources (SQL, Azure, APIs, Excel, SharePoint, etc.). • Requirements Gathering: • Collaborate with business users to understand reporting needs and translate them into technical solutions. • Performance Optimization: • Optimize Power BI datasets and reports for speed and scalability, leveraging best practices in BI development. • Documentation & Training: • Document processes and provide training/support to end users for self-service analytics. What You Bring • Proven hands-on experience developing reports and dashboards in Power BI (Power BI Desktop & Service). • Strong understanding of data modeling principles and expertise in DAX and Power Query (M language). • Experience integrating data from SQL databases, cloud sources (Azure, Synapse, Data Lake), APIs, etc. • Solid communication skills; ability to work directly with business users and translate requirements. • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for data visualization. • Previous contract or consulting experience is a plus. Nice to Have • Experience with Azure Data Services or Synapse Analytics. • Exposure to Python or R for data analytics. • Knowledge of data governance, row-level security, and Power BI administration. • Microsoft certifications (e.g., PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst).
