Role description
Role: Senior SAS Developer Location: Remote – USA Job Type: 12 Months Contract Skills: Skills required in the following tools/applications/technologies. SAS Viya, API, Analytics, Python, Release Management Additional skills: Strong financial services background, coaching users, sustain Key Responsibilities: β€’ Design, develop, and optimize SAS programs for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) from multiple data sources. β€’ Create and maintain automated SAS reports, dashboards, and data models for business and regulatory reporting. β€’ Work closely with data analysts, business users, and IT teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications. β€’ Perform data validation, quality checks, and error handling to ensure accuracy and integrity. β€’ Optimize SAS jobs for performance, scalability, and efficiency in batch and real-time environments. β€’ Manage and maintain SAS environments including libraries, metadata, and version control. β€’ Support migration of SAS programs to newer platforms or cloud environments when applicable. β€’ Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security standards. β€’ Mentor junior SAS developers and review code for best practices. Required Skills and Qualifications: β€’ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field. β€’ 7+ years of hands-on experience with SAS Base, SAS Macro, SAS SQL, and SAS Enterprise Guide. β€’ Experience with SAS Data Integration Studio and SAS Visual Analytics (preferred). β€’ Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL design, and relational databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata). β€’ Expertise in writing complex SQL queries and integrating SAS with external databases. β€’ Familiarity with Unix/Linux scripting, scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, Autosys), and version control (e.g., Git). β€’ Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills. β€’ Strong communication and documentation abilities. Preferred Qualifications: β€’ Experience in financial services, healthcare, or government domains. β€’ Exposure to Python, R, or cloud-based analytics platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). β€’ Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
