Job Description
We are seeking a Sr Scientist with comprehensive knowledge in reagents manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will be an individual contributor capable of planning and executing highly complex or specialized projects. This role involves conducting complex and critical research in the biological or physical sciences, requiring appreciable originality and ingenuity.
Responsibilities
β’ Draft validation protocols, execute validations, and draft validation reports for reagents manufacturing processes, including mixing, pooling, cleaning, operational qualification (OQ), test method validation (TMV), performance qualification (PQ), and process validation (PV).
β’ Design and conduct experiments involving different reagent combinations, concentrations, and operating conditions. Coordinate execution, document results, and present findings.
β’ Develop and maintain data tracking sheets for experiment results, critical process parameters (CPP), operating ranges, and critical quality attributes (CQA) results across manufacturing events.
β’ Utilize the quality management system (QMS) for documentation of study results, complying with site design control and validation procedures.
β’ Create and revise manufacturing documents, specifications, standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety instructions, risk assessments, and other technical documents to ensure compliant, efficient, and safe processes.
β’ Use design for manufacturability (DFM) principles to make recommendations for design improvements.
β’ Work cross-functionally with R&D and QA to develop study plans and execute process design improvements.
Essential Skills
β’ Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or a similar scientific/technical discipline.
β’ 6 years of experience in a scientific/technical role in Operations or R&D.
β’ Proficiency with statistical analysis software, such as Minitab or JMP.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
β’ Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar scientific/technical discipline preferred.
β’ Exposure to diagnostics and immunoassay technologies.
β’ Experience with data science and data visualization highly preferred.
β’ Familiarity with basic project management tools and principles, such as Smartsheet and Microsoft Project.
β’ Hands-on lab experience is necessary.
Work Environment
The role is based in Scarborough, Maine, with a work schedule of Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Candidates willing to relocate at their own expense will be considered, with preference given to local candidates from the Maine area, followed by those from New England and the rest of the country. The position is a 6-month contract with the potential for extension, but not a full-time opportunity. The work environment involves hands-on laboratory work, requiring adherence to best practices to mitigate contamination risks.
