Role description

We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Senior Snowflake Data Engineer / Technical Lead for a contract position at a leading financial institution. This exclusive opportunity is ideal for a senior-level consultant with 15+ years of data experience who thrives in a technical leadership role without stepping into management. The right candidate will have deep expertise across the data lifecycle—from development and design to architecture—with hands-on skills in Snowflake, Databricks, and modern data engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

   • Lead the design and development of robust, scalable, and high-performance data solutions using Snowflake and Databricks.

   • Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership across the full data engineering lifecycle—from data ingestion to transformation and data modeling.

   • Collaborate with business stakeholders and data teams to translate complex requirements into technical solutions.

   • Drive best practices around data governance, performance optimization, and reliability.

   • Work cross-functionally to define standards for development, deployment, and maintenance.

   • Act as a hands-on lead, mentoring junior developers and reviewing code without stepping into people management.

   • Take ownership of technical decisions and ensure solutions align with long-term strategic goals.

Qualifications:

   • 15+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, and large-scale data solutions.

   • Deep hands-on experience with Snowflake and Databricks in enterprise environments.

   • Proficient in SQL, Python, Spark, and data integration tools.

   • Strong experience in ETL/ELT development, data modeling, and cloud-based data platforms.

   • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

   • Self-starter with a passion for solving complex data problems at scale.

   • Prior experience in financial services or other highly regulated environments is a plus.
