Job Description Contract role Day rate. Location: London Duration - Initial 3-month contract with potential to extend Role Overview An experienced SQL Developer is required to join a leading professional services organisation to work on a time critical programme. In January 2024, the FCA announced a review into whether motor finance customers have been overcharged because of the past use of discretionary commission arrangements (DCA). In October 2024, the Court of Appeal held that motor dealers, acting as credit brokers, owe particular duties to customers to disclose commission paid by lenders to them. Lenders were also deemed to be liable for any deficiencies in the dealers’ disclosure of these commissions. The programme has been initiated to resolve the complaints for the Discretionary Commission Arrangements (DCA), post the CoA judgement. Joining the solutions engineering team, you will work alongside the existing development and change management teams to build robust redress calculators capable of handling both bulk and individual calculations. Key Responsibilities β€’ Design and develop SQL Server-based redress calculation logic, including stored procedures, views, and functions. β€’ Translate complex financial rules (e.g. commission rates, interest calculations) into efficient SQL logic. β€’ Build scalable solutions to support bulk processing of customer agreements. β€’ Collaborate with business analysts and regulatory SMEs to ensure accurate implementation of redress rules. β€’ Ensure data integrity, performance optimization, and compliance with FCA guidelines. β€’ Support integration with Excel/VBA-based front-end tools or alternative platforms. β€’ Participate in testing, validation, and deployment phases. β€’ Provide documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams. Job Requirements Required Skills & Experience: β€’ Expert-level SQL Server development, including advanced stored procedures, indexing, and performance tuning. β€’ Proven experience in financial services, ideally within consumer credit, motor finance, or regulatory remediation. β€’ Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and bulk data operations. β€’ Experience working with Excel/VBA integration or similar front-end tools. β€’ Ability to interpret and implement regulatory requirements into technical solutions. β€’ Familiarity with FCA regulations, especially around Consumer Credit Act and redress schemes (preferred). β€’ Excellent communication and documentation skills. Desirable Skills β€’ Experience with SSIS/SSRS or other reporting tools. β€’ Knowledge of Python or R for data validation and analytics. β€’ Exposure to cloud-based SQL environments (e.g. Azure SQL). β€’ Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
