Senior Transportation Analyst

Title: Senior Transportation Excellence Analyst Type: Contract Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid) Team: Transportation / Supply Chain Hourly Rate: $54–$65/hour Work Authorization: No sponsorship available Our client is seeking a Senior Transportation Excellence Analyst to support a global transportation organization in optimizing its transportation network through data-driven insights and strong execution. This role is ideal for someone with deep transportation knowledge who is highly analytical and comfortable working hands-on with data to drive operational and strategic decision-making. In this role, you will analyze carrier performance, support network planning initiatives, and help inform transportation strategy across ocean, air, rail, and trucking. You will partner closely with transportation leadership, network operations, sourcing, and cross-functional teams to deliver actionable insights that improve cost efficiency, service levels, and network performance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Transportation Strategy & Network Performance • Analyze operational and financial performance of carrier partners to support transportation strategy and optimization initiatives • Support strategic network planning across ocean, air, rail, and trucking in collaboration with Origin and Destination Network Operations Managers • Identify opportunities to improve capacity utilization, lead time consistency, and overall transportation cost performance • Serve as a subject matter resource on transportation execution and carrier performance trends Data Analytics & Reporting • Develop and maintain analytical models, dashboards, and reports using Power BI and Excel to track transportation KPIs • Support ad hoc and ongoing analysis related to carrier performance, cost drivers, service levels, and network efficiency • Leverage data to inform recommendations, business cases, and leadership decision-making • Utilize SQL (where applicable) to extract, validate, and analyze large datasets Carrier Strategy & Sourcing Support • Support carrier RFPs, rate analysis, and negotiation efforts in partnership with transportation leadership • Manage and analyze carrier performance across ocean carriers, 3PL operators, freight forwarders, and air freight forwarders • Build and maintain effective working relationships with carrier partners • Provide insights and recommendations to improve carrier strategy and network execution Business Case Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration • Collaborate with internal subject matter experts to develop ROI-driven business cases for transportation initiatives • Translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for both operational and leadership audiences • Partner with IT and supply chain teams to support transportation system enhancements and data integrity efforts • Operate as a hands-on, execution-focused contributor in a fast-paced environment QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience • 5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain roles with a strong executional focus • Strong working knowledge of transportation execution and carrier management across multiple modes • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience building analytical models and performance reporting • Experience developing dashboards and reports in Power BI • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex datasets and translate insights into action • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills • Experience working with SQL for data extraction and analysis • Experience supporting carrier RFPs, rate negotiations, or sourcing initiatives • Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS) • Experience working in global transportation environments
