Role description
Job Title: Snowflake Architect β Snowflake & DBT Modernization
Location: Jersey City, NY β 3-4 Days onsite
Job Type: Fulltime/W2/C2C
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Architecture Review & Optimization
β’ Assess the current Snowflake-based data platform architecture.
β’ Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in data transformation and processing.
β’ Recommend architectural improvements for scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
β’ Code & SQL Review
β’ Conduct detailed reviews of DBT models, SnowSQL scripts, and transformation logic.
β’ Validate adherence to best practices in modularity, reusability, and performance tuning.
β’ Suggest improvements for query optimization and resource utilization.
β’ Performance Tuning
β’ Analyze slow-running queries and transformation pipelines.
β’ Implement strategies for warehouse sizing, clustering, caching, and materialization.
β’ Guide the team on Snowflake-specific performance features (e.g., result caching, automatic clustering).
β’ Best Practices & Governance
β’ Establish coding standards and naming conventions for DBT and SnowSQL.
β’ Define data governance, lineage, and documentation practices.
β’ Recommend monitoring and alerting mechanisms for data pipeline health.
β’ Collaboration & Mentorship
β’ Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and platform teams.
β’ Mentor junior developers on Snowflake and DBT development.
β’ Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and architectural discussions.
Required Skills & Experience:
β’ Proven experience as a Cloud Data Architect or Senior Data Engineer in Snowflake and other Cloud DB environments.
β’ Strong hands-on expertise in DBT, SnowSQL, and SQL performance tuning.
β’ Familiarity with Oracle Exadata and PL/SQL is a plus for comparative analysis.
β’ 10+ yearsβ experience in data modeling (logical and physical), ETL/ELT design, and designing and implementing data warehouse, performance tuning and optimization.
β’ Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, version control, and deployment automation.
β’ Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical findings into actionable recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Snowflake Architect Certification, DBT Certification.
β’ Experience in banking or financial services data platforms.
β’ Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
